Case Study: Translating Bryan Fuller’s DUST BUNNY
Following the film’s release, here is a behind-the-scenes look at the character design and digital sculpting process for the title character in Bryan Fuller’s Dust Bunny.
Working under the Legacy Effects umbrella, my role was to take the imaginative early creature concepts by comic book artist Jonathan Wayshak and translate them into a production-ready 3D character design.
Production Logistics:
• The Challenge: The digital sculpt required strict adherence to human scale to accommodate a practical on-set special effects gag where an actor physically fit inside the creature’s mouth.
• The Execution: My final 3D files served as the core structural blueprint for both the physical on-set puppet (head, shoulders, and arms built by Legacy Effects) and the final digital CGI assets built by the VFX team.
