RECENT WORK

I while ago I was contacted to design the Egyptian Sun God, Ra, for the recent SolarCity campaign. I cycled through a few versions before I landed the approved design.

Legacy Effects 3D printed the entire headpiece, and the beak as well, (if I’m not mistaken). Then they painted the pieces to match the concept art, added feathers, and fleshed out the rest of the character.

A few months back, I was tasked out to design the giant fish in the recent Geico “Fishermen Tell Tales: It’s What You Do” commercial.

The monster fish was initially modeled after a grouper, and then the client requested a few changes to the face to make it look a bit more mean. I digitally sculpted this guy and then Legacy Effects had it milled out of foam, full scale, somewhere around 10′ in length!

Not long ago I was contacted to help with the relaunch of Burger King’s King. They client wanted to bring him back, but with a new wardrobe, new bling and a bit of a facelift- or maybe just a facial rejuvenation.

Since the King will be making a lot of live appearances, as he did in Floyd Mayweather’s entourage before the fight with Pacquiao, the client wanted him to appear a bit more life-like, and not like a plastic mask.

Legacy Effects scanned the original King head I then digitally sculpted the a bit more detail in face and hair. I also 3D modeled the crown, ring and medallion.

Here are some designs below. Note, Christian Cordella did the wardrobe design in the full body shot, and I composited the head and medallion onto his render.

Not long ago I had the opportunity to design the characters, Alert Man and Seagull Man for the Beautyrest “League of Super Heroes” commercial. For Seagull Man, I designed a range of wing options from mechanical to feathered. The client eventually settled on the feathered wings.

Legacy Effects 3D printed the hard pieces and fabricated the rest of the suits.

I had a chance to design a few of the characters for the Plenti “So Happy Together” commercial. Legacy Effects turned my designs into puppets. The final commercial is a combo of CG and puppeteered characters.

I had the opportunity to design the character Carl in the Benjamin Moore “Who Are You Talking To About…” commercials. These guys were modeled after ventriloquist dummies. They are pretty funny… and a bit creepy.

Legacy Effects 3D printed the digital sculpts of these characters and turned them into operational puppets.

I designed the initial pass at the giant Masterchief statue for the “Halo 5 Guardians Master Chief” and “Halo 5 Guardians Spartan Locke” commercials. The design ended up changing for the final commercials, but I thought I’d show some of the early design progress.

A little while back I was asked to design the robot for a Fedex Office Pack Plus commercial. Since the robot’s face is static, the director wanted to see different eye sizes to display different emotions. It looks like they opted for a uniform eye size in the final cut.

I handed over the final 3D model to Legacy Effects and they grew (3D printed) the suit parts and fabricated the rest. They did a great job, as always.
